One of the hardest things for us to do as Christians is to BE STILL. We want to fix everything. Our minds tend to race a million miles an hour and we are constantly thinking about how we can do better and be better. Sometimes the act of sitting still can feel lazy. We sit there and think about our mile long to do list. I know that I personally really struggle with this. I have two little humans who need my constant attention. When I finally get the chance to be alone…the last thing I want to do is sit still. I want to clean my floors, finish the laundry, and go for a run. I am learning the importance of being still. When I finally take the time to sit with God…I am amazed at how He shows up. He showers me with his peace, love, and grace. When I am anxious, he calms my spirit. I encourage you to sit down for at least 10 minutes and just sit with God. He will answer.
*This artwork was done by the beautiful Lizzie Smiley. Lizzie is a pursuer of peace, wife, momma, step-mom, girl-next-door, faith blogger, knitter, and reclaimed wood sign maker. Looking back over the past six years since she dedicated her life to the Lord, there is one thing she can say with total certainty: God has been on a mission to establish a peaceful home in her life. The process itself has been anything but peaceful, but the beauty of the journey compels her to share her experiences, encourage other women, and cast the Peaceful Home vision through her writing and artwork.
